Sonnar design was first introduced to the world in 1929, and it is characterized by excellent sharpness and contrast in a small size, bright aperture lens. It was released together with the Contax i released by Zeiss Icon in 1932, leading more than a decade ahead of the time of the release of the competitor – Leica’s Elmar 50mm F3.5. The Sonnar 50mm is without a doubt the best lens, but that’s not all. Various Carl Zeiss lenses can be used through the coiro adapter, and the Biogon 21mm, known as one of the best wide-angle lenses, can also be used with a simple modification to the lens.
